Why a New Hospital?

Unfortunately, because of government standards, the existing building is now in need of major seismic upgrades. The initial estimates were in the multi-millions, much more than ever imagined. With this information, the dream of building a new hospital became a reality.

While the move to a new facility is bittersweet, it is necessary to continue to offer high quality medical services in central Mendocino County. Not only is it planned that the new hospital will elevate services to a higher level, there will also be additional square footage to be able to provide future healthcare educational programs and services.

The new hospital facility will not have the old historical atmosphere, but it will begin new traditions with the same hospitality that sets Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital apart from the larger metropolitan facilities.

The staff will continue to offer the highest of quality services with the same "Neighbors Helping Neighbor's" attitude that has been the cornerstone of Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital for over 75 years.
