Margie Handley

President, Board of Directors
Margie Handley carries on her family's long tradition of supporting Howard Hospital. Her late father, Robert E. Harrah was instrumental in establishing the Foundation, ensuring that vital hospital services continue in the north county. "My father was very active for many years with the foundation. Margie says, "I strongly believe a hospital is the heart and soul of a community. I feel it is important to carry on with my father's work." Along with her work with the foundation, Margie is a local businesswoman and is very active in local, state and national political issues.

William Bowen, M.D.

Doctor William Bowen has been a dedicated health care professional in Mendocino County for over twenty four years. As a member of the Howard Foundation Board of Directors, Doctor Bowen has added his guidance and medical expertise with enthusiasm. Dr. Bowen has spearheaded many of the innovative additions made to Howard Hospital and always keeps the board apprised of ground-breaking developments in the medical field. His unwavering interest in providing the highest form of medical care for the residents of the area has been a driving force for his work with the foundation. Though his dedication keeps him quite busy in his practice Doctor Bowen enjoys flying airplanes as a form of relaxation.

Arther "Bud" Harwood

Bud Harwood is Chairman of the Board of Harwood Products, Inc., a family owned lumber mill located in Branscomb, CA. Along with his father, Bud Sr. he established the mill in 1951, Born in 1926, the same year Howard Hospital was built, Bud feels a certain emotional tie to the hospital. He feels providing adequate health care is as critical today as it was 76 years ago and is just as challenging. Without the help of the Howard Foundation, volunteer work from the Hospital Auxiliary and the financial support from members of the community, Howard Hospital would cease to exist. Bud is proud to be a director of a dynamic organization that continues to work to provide first class medical care to the citizens of Northern Mendocino County.

Jann Lamprich

Executive Director
As a former Howard Hospital administrator, Jann Lamprich has given the Foundation valuable insight into the importance of retaining hospital services in the community. Taking from her administrative experience she has an uncanny way of knowing what is needed in order for the Foundation to assist the hospital. Jann not only guides the Foundation, she works very closely with managing the, all volunteer, hospital auxiliary. "I feel we need to be involved with keeping the Foundation viable in order to maintain the health and well-being of our families, our friends and our community." Jann states, "With the rapidly changing atmosphere in the medical field, it is even more important that we, as individuals, support the foundation to insure the future of healthcare in our community."

Tom Herman

Tom Herman volunteered to serve as a member of the Howard Foundation Board of Directors because he feels the Hospital is the cornerstone of the community and wants to offer the expertise he has gained as a small business owner for the last twenty years. Tom feels his experience will help in developing the facilities, which will give area residents continued access to high quality medical care. Tom is no stranger to community involvement, having served as a director of the Little Lake Fire Protection District and the Willits Chamber of Commerce. Recently, he has become a member of the Mendocino College Foundation Board of Directors. In explaining why he is happy to be a part of the Howard board he said, "I feel strongly about giving something back to the community and I think there is a potential to do something very important in helping the hospital remain a viable and permanent institution here. There are many challenges ahead and I hope to lend my business perspective to maintaining and expanding the hospital's role in Willits and Northern Mendocino County."
